Pith & Substance wants to be the first Canadian weblog to endorse Brad DeLong's health plan.
It's pretty simple. Health expenses up to 20% of taxable income in any given year would be up to individuals to meet, either through fee-for-service or private insurance.[1] Everything after that would be met by the state. He adds massive public health spending paid for by sin taxes.
DeLong thinks it politically impossible in the US. It doesn't take a genius to see it isn't going to sell in Canada either -- now. But the first post-war baby turns 65 in just over three years.
